Sustainability reporting, or integrated reporting, is voluntary in Australia and involves companies and organisations demonstrating their corporate responsibility through measuring and reporting on their economic, social and environmental performance and impacts.

It can be delivered through the company’s annual report, a stand-alone sustainability report, a broad-based business report or an environmental or social impact report. Sustainability and business may once have been an unlikely match, but this is no longer the case. It is time to stand up and get started!

Integrating sustainability into business practices: a case study approach  has been prepared for the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia by Kiewa Consulting Pty Ltd. This paper provides some business case studies that shed light on the journey towards sustainable business practices, and some simple steps that should help business leaders take their part in it.

The five cases studies include the following organisations:

• Blackmores
• Woolworths
