Sharing a quote from a Hendrie Weisinger book – Performing Under Pressure: The Science of Doing Your Best When It Matters Most – Weisinger says, “Your natural tools are your thoughts, physiological responses, body movements, voice, and senses. They determine how you handle pressure, regardless of your level of expertise, abilities, or good intentions.”
With association to the aforementioned, is there such a thing as grace under pressure, or is there a myth to this assertion?

SPEAKERS
Priscillah Mabelane – Chief Executive Officer at BPSA
Priscillah Mabelane is a South African chartered accountant. She is known to be the first woman in the history of South Africa’s oil industry to head a multi-national company. In August 2017, she was appointed the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of BP Southern Africa (BPSA), making her the first female to hold such a position. Priscillah has experience spanning over 20 years of service in leadership positions. Prior to joining BP, she held various executive roles in several large South African companies including Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) where she was the CFO; Ernst & Young where she was a tax director and Eskom Holdings Limited where she held various roles in finance, tax and general management. Priscillah is a qualified chartered accountant and holds a Bcom Honours in Accounting. Before taking the reins as BPSA CEO, Priscillah served as Operations Director for BP’s UK retail business for just over two years, where she is credited with maintaining a strong safety record whilst delivering record levels of financial performance and progress on key strategic milestones. In this role, Priscillah was responsible for the development and implementation of the retail strategy in the UK. In this role she was also responsible for Retail operations across Europe. As the CFO of BPSA, she was responsible for the development and implementation of business and financial strategies of the business. She was also instrumental in repositioning the Southern African business.
Nonkululeko Gobodo – Chief Executive Officer at Nkululeko Leadership Consulting
She made news when she became the first black female Chartered Accountant in South Africa in 1987. Since then, Nonkululeko Gobodo has become a highly appraised trailblazer and a renowned leader of her generation. As a woman in business, Gobodo has always challenged herself to achieve what many believed was impossible. In 2016 she co-founded Nkululeko Leadership Consulting (NLC), a boutique, black-owned and managed leadership consulting firm based in Sandton, Johannesburg. She is currently the CEO and Head of Leadership Consulting at NLC. She is also non-executive director at PPC Ltd. and Clicks Group Limited.
Rapelang Rabana – Founder of Rekindle Learning,
Featured on the cover of Forbes Africa magazine before the age of 30, selected as a Fast Company Maverick and named a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum and Entrepreneur for the World by the World Entrepreneurship Forum – Rapelang is an internationally lauded technology entrepreneur. Currently, Rapelang’s primary business focus is Rekindle Learning, a highly innovative learning technology company and Nisela Capital, a pioneering private equity and advisory firm. Rapelang journey began as the founding CEO of Yeigo, an innovative startup that developed some of the world’s earliest mobile VoIP applications in 2006. She obtained B.Business Science (Computer Science Honours) from the University of Cape Town, giving a technical and business background. She has since believed that there had to be better, simpler more effective ways to do things – and there is: technology.
