SUMMARY:ICAEW London and East Economic Summit
DESCRIPTION:The latest Business Confidence Monitor (BCM) in London shows business sentiment weakening across most of the UK. As economic conditions tighten\, businesses are facing significant challenges\, particularly on the supply-side\, that could hinder future growth. Input costs are increasing sharply\, while salaries are rising in response to recruitment difficulties and labour shortages. This is despite companies experiencing strong sales growth as they continue to recover from the pandemic. \n\nLondon’s Business Confidence Index has fallen for a third successive quarter\, although it remains just above the UK average.\nOver the last year\, businesses have seen domestic sales and exports rise strongly. And further gains are expected in the year ahead.\nLabour costs are rising for businesses. This is through both an increase in staff levels and also a marked increase in salaries. This is linked to persistent challenges with skill availability and staff turnover.\nOther cost pressures are also mounting\, with input price inflation climbing to its highest rate since late 2008. To partly offset this\, selling prices are increasing.\nRegulatory requirements are also a widespread issue. Transport problems remain elevated\, although these have eased from recent quarters.\nMore encouraging is that businesses have upgraded their capital investment plans\, probably driven by growing capacity constraints for companies.\n\nYou can read the full report here and on Tuesday 21 June from 08:30-10:00\, we will be holding our 4th virtual London and East Economic Summit where the results of this latest BCM will be discussed by a number of high-profile panellists. Delegates at the event will be able to input into local discussions which makes this event one not to be missed as we consider the question “How is the economic environment impacting the business risks and opportunities in 2022?’’ \nKrishnan Guru-Murthy\, the award-winning news anchor\, will be joining us as plenary chair at the London and East Economic Summit and keynote speakers include: \n\nHuw Pill\, Chief Economist and Executive Director for Monetary Analysis at the Bank of England.\nAnna Leach\, Deputy Chief Economist at CBI\nIain Wright\, Managing Director\, Reputation & Influence at ICAEW\nSuren Thiru\, Director\, Economies & Corporate Finance\, ICAEW\n\nOur keynote speakers will share their views at a national and regional level before breaking into local panel groups. Here panellists will examine the economic landscape of the locality and the key risks /opportunities unique to the local area. After each panellist has introduced themselves\, the Chair will pose questions to generate ideas for the future economic prosperity of the locality and take questions from the audience via the chat facility. \nThe overarching objective is to stimulate debate on how best the local economy can continue the challenges we are currently facing and how the local professional community can support this goal over the next year.  You can book onto the event at ICAEW London and East Economic Summit or please email Debbie.Antony@icaew.com

SUMMARY:Mental toughness vs mental flexibility
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Presenter: Dr Kirsten van Heerden \nWhile mental toughness is highly regarded in the ultra-endurance scene\, it is meaningless unless it is combined with the ability to adjust when things don’t go as planned or when you reach a low point during a particular state in your life. Adaptability – often known as flexibility – is a concept that everyone can support. However\, what does psychological flexibility entail and how can you can apply it to your own personal and professional lives\, will be our focus during this webcast.[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Book Now” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.saica.co.za%2FMembers%2FProductsandServices%2FSeminarsandEvents%2Ftabid%2F672%2Fevent_code%2F7261_01%2Flanguage%2Fen-US%2FDefault.aspx|title:Book%20now|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Beyond Accounting - Accounting for Net Zero - Part Two
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]For this event we are partnering with Fordham University’s Gabelli School of Business and focusing on Accounting for Net Zero. \nThis is part 2 of a two-part series\, with the first part having been held on March 31st. In Part 2 we will continue to discuss the huge opportunity for our accounting profession to take ownership and establish clear governance\, over this critical measure of how business in general is performing in achieving a net-zero target. Our first session runs for about 30 minutes and includes two 15-minute presentations. \nWe will then take a discussion break for 12 minutes where we will allocate attendees to groups. When they arrive in the groups\, they will be met by a group leader – one of our CAW Network USA executive team. They will then discuss the key takeaways they have from the presentations. Also\, to decide a few that are ‘most important’. \nWe will then reconvene in a plenary session and group leads will be asked to share the most important takeaways. (8 minutes). Then we bring the speakers back\, introduce our moderator and move to Q&A for the remaining time (Est. 30\nminutes). Total time including introduction and polls 90 minutes. \nThis presentation will cover: \n\nClimate and Accounting / Reporting – a perspective from a senior analyst with the Carbon Tracker initiative. They specialize in assessing climate change risk\, challenging value assumptions\, accounting for impaired/stranded assets\, investigation the capital raising proves and exploring the contradiction between climate policy and markets.\nAn international perspective on the accounting profession and ‘Net Zero’\nThis will be followed by attendee discussion of the key items and priorities arising.\nOur speakers will then return\, along with a guest speaker (Brad Sparks) to take questions from the audience and feedback on results from the breakout session.\n\nNote this is Part 2 of a 2-part event. The first event was held on March 31st 2022\, with a similar format and 2 different session 1 speakers. \nLearning Objectives\nBy the end of the sessions\, attendees will be able to answer the following questions: \n\nLearn Climate reporting is being carried out in practice and its challenges and opportunities.\nHow the accounting profession globally is facing up to its opportunity to become the trusted advisor and assessor of compliance.\nIdentify key questions arising and discuss their potential impact and how accountants / auditors can help.\nImplications for the accounting profession.\n\nCPE Credits\nParticipants will earn 1 CPE credits (for the first 50 minutes of the program 1 CPE credit is awarded but only if the program is 50 minutes. Technology will greatly help but other\, non-technical remedies will also be required. \nThis webinar will look at different solutions to the same problems but in different geographical settings. Delivering robust net-zero infrastructure solutions and generating a circular\, resilient\, sustainable economy that focuses on sharing\, leasing\, reusing\, repairing\, refurbishing and recycling existing materials and products for as long as possible will help tackle our global challenges of climate change\, biodiversity loss\, and waste. Speakers from around the world will reveal a diversity of views and approaches to this vitally important subject. \nChair: Peter Hall\, Vice President\, Global Director for Sustainable and Resilient Infrastructure\, Wood plc \nSpeakers\nNayaz Mohammed\, Partner\, Middle East Practice\, PwC (Dubai) \nRichard Palmer\, Director of Global Sustainability\, Integral Group (Cape Town) \nHeather Rosenberg\, Associate Principal in the Americas\, Arup\, and founder of the Building Resilience Network (Los Angeles) \n(In partnership with PwC)[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”Register to the webinar” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fwww.resiliencefirst.org%2Fevents%2Fimproving-urban-infrastructure-better-resilience-global-perspective|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

SUMMARY:Analytics Based Corporate Performance Management
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Gary Cokins\, who presented for CAW Network USA in 2021 on Data Analytics\, returns to Share his thinking on one of his favorite topics – Analytics based EPM. This session will help attendees learn how the seamless integration of enterprise and corporate performance management (EPM/CPM) methods\, that are each embedded with advanced analytics\, will exponentially increase an organization’s performance. This event is eligible for 1 CPE credit if attendees request CPE and meet NASBA requirements. \nMany organizations are far from where they want and need to be with improving their performance. They apply intuition\, rather than fact-based data\, when making decisions. Enterprise performance management (EPM) is now viewed as the seamless integration of managerial methods such as strategy execution with a strategy map and its companion balanced scorecard (KPIs) and operational dashboards (PIs); enterprise risk management (ERM); capacity-sensitive driver-based budgets and rolling financial forecasts; product / service / channel / customer profitability analysis (using activity-based costing [ABC] principles); customer lifetime value (CLV); supply chain management; lean and Six Sigma quality management for operational improvement; and resource capacity spending planning. Each method should be embedded with business analytics of all flavors\, such as correlation\, segmentation\, regression\, and clustering analysis; and especially predictive analytics as a bridge to prescriptive analytics to yield the best (ideally optimal) decisions. This presentation will describe how to complete the full vision of analytics-based enterprise performance management. \nGary Cokins our presenter\, is an internationally recognized expert\, speaker\, and author in advanced cost management and performance improvement systems. He spent 30 years with Deloitte\, KPMG\, and SAS. He is the founder of Analytics-Based Performance Management\, an advisory firm located in Cary\, North Carolina LinkedIn profile. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nHow to view enterprise and corporate performance management (EPM/CPM) as the seamless integration of managerial methods rather than as a process.\nUnderstand how business analytics is an advance over business intelligence and where Big Data fits in.\nHow to identify and differentiate strategic KPIs in a balanced scorecard and operational performance indicators (PIs) in dashboards.\nHow to properly calculate product\, service-line\, channel\, and customer profitability for analysis\, insights and actions.\nHow to perform “predictive accounting” for capacity-sensitive driver-based budgets / rolling financial forecasts\, what-if analysis\, and outsourcing decisions\nHow to overcome implementation barriers such as behavioral resistance to change and fear of being held accountable.\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_btn title=”REGISTER ONLINE” link=”url:https%3A%2F%2Fattendee.gotowebinar.com%2Fregister%2F5146065581473113614|target:_blank”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
