Sustainability & SDGs

Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

In this section Chartered Accountants Worldwide and our Member Institutes share our insights on how to promote and meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Chartered Accountants and the Global Goals

Sustainability focuses on meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs.

The concept of sustainability is composed of three pillars: economic, environmental, and social—also known informally as profits, planet, and people.

Chartered Accountants Worldwide and our Member Institutes are committed to working with the financial sector to ensure that we meet the targets set out in the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Together we are working to encourage businesses to frame decisions in terms of environmental, social, and human impact for the long-term, rather than on short-term gains. Influencing them to consider more factors than simply the immediate profit or loss involved.

We believe that with everyones help, we can, in this decade, create a cleaner, greener, fairer world. We encourage companies to issue commitments to achieve the UN SDGs by 2030.
