Last week, 20 ICAEW colleagues represented the Institute at this year’s Standard Chartered Great City Race, joining more than 5,000 participants from organisations across London for the annual 5km event through the City.
With colleagues taking part from a range of departments, the race provided a great opportunity to connect outside the workplace while promoting wellbeing and team engagement.
Following the race, Sarah Prescott, Senior International Relations Manager and Chair of the Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW) Taskforce for Wellbeing, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, organised a joint social with runners from the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ). The event gave colleagues from both institutes an opportunity to meet and strengthen professional relationships within the CAW network in an informal setting.
CAW also introduced an element of friendly competition by sponsoring a trophy for the fastest team. The winner was determined by the combined finishing times of each institute’s fastest male and female runners. Despite a strong performance from the ICAEW team, CA ANZ took this year’s title, helped by an outstanding individual run of just 16 minutes and 30 seconds.
ICAEW’s quickest finishers were Tom Carson and Mia Drewett, who both completed the course in an impressive 22 minutes and 30 seconds.
The event highlighted the value of bringing colleagues together while also providing an opportunity to engage with fellow chartered accountants from across the profession.
