The A4S Accounting Bodies Network (a grouping of global accounting bodies representing two thirds of the world’s accountants formed as part of Accounting for Sustainability, A4S), made a commitment last year to achieve net zero greenhouse gas emissions as soon as operationally possible, as well as providing an enabling environment for their members to achieve net zero commitments. As part of that promise, they have published a practical guidance for SMEs and SMPs on embedding sustainability into their businesses.
Recognising the collective impact of SMEs – representing about 90% of all businesses – and the critical role they play within any given supply chain, the ‘Embracing Sustainability: Actions for SMEs’ guidance supports busy and sometimes resource-stretched organizations understand the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ of addressing the environmental and social challenges we face.
