A new initiative aims to bring together committed and innovative professionals to drive the finance and business community towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Finance & Business2030, a collaboration between One Young World, Chartered Accountants Worldwide and the City of London Corporation, will be unveiled at an event held on Tuesday, 2nd of April, at the Mansion House in London.

The inaugural event will explore innovative business models, new routes to finance and collaborative working that can support the aims of the sustainable development movement.

The sustainability agenda has never been more pressing, at a time of changing climate conditions, geopolitical uncertainty, and growing disparity between rich and poor in society.

Tackling the 17 global goals of the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development will require change in how business and finance are conducted.

The event aims to bring together the finance and business community as a force for change, to identify the opportunities and encourage a commitment to tackle the issues and achieve the long-term goals.

It will also consider how the finance community can harness digital skills and innovation to drive towards the goals, and to seize opportunities from the ‘fourth industrial revolution’ and the new technologies emerging from it.

Planned outcomes from the launch include defining a vision for Finance & Business2030 and establishing objectives for the finance community over the next year.

Peter Estlin, the Lord Mayor of London, will be the keynote speaker at the launch. The afternoon event will include roundtable discussions on where the finance and business community make the greatest contribution to shape a more inclusive and sustainable future, and the challenges it faces doing so.

Later this year, London will be the host city for the One Young World summit, an annual conference summit that gathers global leaders under the age of 30 to discuss and debate important issues facing the world.

Finance & Business2030 is seeking change makers, innovators and disruptors across sectors and industries who believe in the ability of finance to lead change. Specifically, they are looking for qualified finance professionals working in the private, public or third sector, or people with a strong interest in finance and business solutions to tackle world issues. Anyone who is part of either group and who would like to take part in the launch, can register their interest by emailing community@oneyoungworld.com.
