Key Note

Networking is now more important than ever. With remote working, our networks have shrunk; we must renew our existing networks and build new ones. Kingsley Aikins understands the transformative power of networking, the ‘glue’ that makes everything happen. The most important element of career progress is the ability to build a strong and diverse network. A critical skill, which we are not taught, but must learn from experience, networking is a ‘must have’ for navigating today’s world of work and a key predictor of success.

This book questions the traditional advice to “work hard and let your good work speak for itself”. It is other people who will speak for you, not your work. The maxim that people do business with people they know, like and trust is all the truer in this rapidly changing world, disrupted by digital technologies. Your network is how you will build such trust. People often get paid early in their careers for what they do but later for who they are; and your network reflects who you are.
