Meet the speakers
Ronan Dunne, Executive Vice President & Group CEO – Verizon Consumer
Ronan Dunne is Executive Vice President & Group CEO of Verizon Consumer. He leads the teams responsible for providing wireline voice, data and TV products and services and wireless connected experiences to more than 100 million consumers every day. In addition, his teams are helping to build the first 5G technology network that will redefine how customers live, work and play.
Prior to this, Ronan was executive vice president and president of Verizon Wireless, responsible for all aspects of Wireless’ strategy, product development, marketing, operations, customer care and digital operations. He led the teams that provide products and communications services for consumer, business and government customers on the nation’s largest and most reliable network.
Ronan joined Verizon in 2016 as executive vice president and group president of Verizon Wireless. Under his leadership, Wireless continued its evolution and harnessed their network and competitive advantages to provide great customer experiences.
Corporate and charitable leadership
Dunne is a fellow and former council member of the Chartered Accountants Ireland (CAI) and a fellow of the Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT). Ronan is a Counsellor for the One Young World charity that brings together young leaders from around the world and empowers them to make lasting connections to create positive change.
Personal and educational background
Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Ronan and his wife Elaine now reside in New Jersey. He is an avid sports fan and enjoys soccer, rugby, field hockey and traveling with his family.
Freeman Nomvalo, CEO the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants
Aside from being a Harvard alumnus, Mr. Nomvalo was also South Africa’s Accountant-General from 2004 to 2013 where one of his highlights was working with the British Commonwealth to assist in promoting internal audit and risk management in 18 Caribbean Countries from 2009 to 2011. He started his tenure at SAICA on 1 February 2019 and is passionate about restoring trust in the chartered accountancy profession. He also sits on the board of Chartered Accountants Worldwide (CAW).
Penelope Mantzaris, Senior Vice President, Edelman Intelligence
Penelope is Deputy Lead for Edelman Data and Intelligence (DxI) EMEA, the research, insight and analytics arm of Edelman. Penelope is passionate about helping clients to make the right strategic decisions, underpinned by real evidence. Her research experience spans the remit of brand and reputation, NPS and Customer Experience, and employee engagement, culture and Trust. Prior to Edelman DxI, Penelope was a Director at Gracechurch Consulting, a management consultancy focused on Professional Financial and Legal Services. Before that, she worked at GfK and TNS, after starting her career at Unilever.
Penelope holds a Business Science Honours degree in Marketing and Economics from the University of Cape Town.
Michael Izza, CEO, ICAEW and Chairman, Chartered Accountants Worldwide
Appointed Chief Executive in 2006, Michael’s leadership has seen ICAEW embrace a vision of building a world of strong and sustainable economies, transforming itself into a professional accountancy body with a truly global identity and reach. In 2018 Michael became Chairman of Chartered Accountants Worldwide.
Michael regularly meets ministers, policy-makers and regulators from around the world, and is a frequent media commentator on economic and business issues. He has recently led the institute’s response to the Covid-19 crisis, providing ICAEW members with insight and guidance to support their businesses and themselves in practice. He also passionately believes that the wider emerging forces which are already changing the very nature of work – such as technological disruption – present Chartered Accountants with many more opportunities than threats, and is committed to helping the profession meet these challenges.
Michael qualified as an ICAEW Chartered Accountant in 1986 with Coopers & Lybrand after graduating in law from Durham University, where he was also president of the student union. He has served as a school governor for eleven years and is a trustee of several charities, including Moorfields Eye Charity, supporting London’s world class Moorfields Eye Hospital. Prior to joining ICAEW, he spent four years at Spring Group, where he was managing director of several businesses and group finance director. From 1989 to 1996 he worked for the Canadian company, John Labatt Ltd., latterly as managing director of its retail arm.
Carolyn Colley, Non-Executive Director at CA ANZ
Carolyn is based in Sydney and has more than 30 years of Australian financial services sector knowledge formed through leadership roles at KPMG, BT Financial, Asgard Wealth Solutions, St George and Macquarie Bank. Carolyn was also the CEO of formerly listed software business, Decimal Software Limited.
Carolyn was most recently co-founder and Chief Operating Officer of Faethm Pty Ltd, a global Software-as-a-Service augmented analytics platform which enables companies, governments and educators to understand the impact of emerging technologies on the Future of Work.
Since finishing her last executive role in 2020, Carolyn is currently an independent non-executive director of the subsidiary settlement and clearing boards of the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX:ASX), IOOF’s Superannuation Trustees, Smartgroup (ASX:SIQ), Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and Milford Asset Management. She is also a Director and Deputy Chair of Liverpool Neighbourhood Connections, a community based not for profit organisation
