Event summary

The latest report from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change was stark – we can secure a liveable future for all but only if we act urgently on climate change. But what does this mean for smaller businesses, and how can chartered accountants contribute?
Join our Achieving Net Zero webinar as we take a look at ICAS’ journey towards Net Zero. Fiona Donelly, Director of Sustainability, ICAS, will be joined by Julia Groves, ESG Managing Director, British Business Bank and Craig Anderson, Facilities Manager, ICAS and will discuss the basics of net zero and carbon accounting, the broader consideration of environmental, social and governance factors in business decision, why SMEs should take action, what they can do and how the British Business Bank is involved. There will also be an opportunity to ask any burning questions during a Q&A session.

Host: Fiona Donnelly CA, Director of Sustainability, ICAS

Fiona has levered her CA qualification as a springboard to a number of different international roles. Since 2007 she has had an increasing specialism in sustainability, and has served various clients in waste, cleantech, carbon innovation and sustainability consulting, as well as completing further exams in ESG/climate/investing. She has lived in Hong Kong since 1995 and has recently changed her base to Scotland to join ICAS as maternity cover as the Director of Sustainability. She will work with Craig to support the delivery of ICAS’ Net Zero plans.

Julia Groves, ESG Managing Director, British Business Bank

Julia has been working on building a more sustainable economy for over 20 years. This has included funding renewable energy generation, making finance more democratic and creating sustainable investments.
Most recently she was a Partner and executive committee member, at the private equity firm Downing LLP, where she led their transition to becoming a Responsible investor.

Prior to this Julia has been the Founding Chair of the UK Crowdfunding Association, a founder and director of a number of start-ups, and she remains an active Angel investor in early-stage sustainable businesses.

Craig Anderson, Facilities Manager, ICAS

Craig started as Facilities Manager at ICAS in January 2019. After making a number of carbon-reducing changes to the way ICAS operates, Craig has been instrumental in engaging the services of an external contractor as Net Zero Consultants and pulling together the internal team from across ICAS to work with the consultants to establish the carbon emissions baseline for ICAS in 2021 and develop the Net Zero Roadmap to reduce carbon emissions to progress towards a Net Zero status by 2045.
