Inspiring Excellence Series: Louise O’Donnell & Dr Caroline McGroary: The Legacy of Leadership

As Executive Vice President of International Operations, Risk, Strategy, Legal & Compliance at Oman Insurance, Louise O’Donnell is leading an international team in Dubai. Meanwhile in Saudi Arabia, Lecturer in Accounting Dr Caroline McGroary is an important part of a university collaboration centered around the education of Saudi women.

In this webinar, Louise and Caroline will talk about their experience of living and working in the Middle East; how the experience has changed them and their leadership style; and the incredible pace of change for everyone, but particularly for women in the Middle East.

About Louise O’Donnell

Prior to joining Oman Insurance Company. in 2013, Louise held a number of positions at AIG, including that of Operational Risk Manager based in London, and International Internal Audit Senior, which was a travelling internal auditor role for both General and Life Insurance operations. She was fortunate to travel and work in 48 overseas offices of AIG.

Louise was awarded Women Leader of the Year in 2019 by the Middle East Insurance Industry Awards which was the inaugural year to celebrate the contributions that women bring to the insurance industry.

Louise holds a Bachelor of Accounting and Finance from Dundalk Institute of Technology in Ireland, and is also a Fellow member of the Chartered Accountants in Ireland.

About Dr Caroline McGroary

Dr Caroline McGroary is a Chartered Accountant and Lecturer in Accounting at Dublin City University (DCU). Originally from Donegal, Caroline currently works between Ireland and Saudi Arabia where she is part of a university collaboration centered around the education of Saudi women.

Caroline’s holistic approach to education has allowed her to successfully align her work in the classroom with burgeoning global social issues such as gender equality and sustainability. Her work has been presented at international conferences and has been nominated for several awards for innovation, excellence in teaching and impact.

Caroline recently received the Chartered Star Award from Chartered Accountants Ireland and will represent the profession at the One Young World Summit later this year. She has also been awarded a Fulbright Scholarship from the Fulbright Commission of Ireland and will travel to the US in 2022 to conduct research on the role of the accountant in the field of cybersecurity.

Caroline is also an active member of the community, including volunteering with local charities (e.g. Friends of the Elderly) and community groups (e.g. GAA), as well as being an Irish dancer.
