Lessons on leadership: Lord Simon Woolley

January 19 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm GMT

Lessons on Leadership

ICAS invites you to an online fireside chat with Lord Simon Woolley, crossbench member of the House of Lords and Principal at Homerton College, and Indy Singh Hothi CA, ICAS President. During this in-depth conversation, the importance of representation within leadership roles will be examined, with Lord Woolley drawing on his impactful career – including his time as an Equality and Human Rights Commissioner.

Lord Woolley is a pivotal figure in race equality within UK Government. Having dedicated his career to tackling racial inequalities within politics, health, education, and employment as well as addressing the social injustices affecting underrepresented communities, he empowers others through his leadership roles.

In a recent interview with CA Magazine, Lord Woolley states: “It’s about making our country a better place, about a sense of belonging, a sense of purpose.” Attendees of this event will hear Lord Woolley describe why this ethos is important to CAs and how empowering and supporting underrepresented groups via acts of leadership will greatly benefit our society.

Lord Woolley will discuss his career to date, from founding Operation Black Vote (OBV) in 1996 to the present day, where he divides his time between the House of Lords and his office at Homerton College.

Attendees of this event will hear Lord Woolley’s inspirational story first-hand and will be granted the opportunity to ask questions during the live Q&A session following the discussion.
